Sherman Peabody Says:

April 16, 2008

Hi Boyd,
I must say… WOW, I checked out your site and it is superb!  I left a comment, too.
This is SUCH a good thing you are doing.  I’m going to tell all my friends about your site.

By the way, you almost had another customer last week.  I was visiting my ex and he was having problems with his furnace.  Kept starting up but then stopping and the pilot light would go out.  Over and over. I told him if he needs to solicit help that I knew someone who was honest and knowledgeable.  Turned out it was just the furnace filter… he needs to change it more often apparently, or maybe it was a faulty filter, but he was able to figure it out and now it works fine. But at least we both know where to turn if we have problems again.
I wish you the very best of luck with this.  You are doing a very good thing. :)

Thinking about a Humidifier?

April 16, 2008

During the heating season, inside air dries to the point where the humidity is substantially lower or comparable to that of a desert. Dry air extracts moisture wherever it finds it, especially from hygroscopic materials such as wood, carpets and furniture. This extraction causes floors to warp, carpets to wear out faster due to brittle fibers, and furniture joints to loosen. The effect on people is to dry out nasal and throat membranes. This means more susceptibility to colds and virus infections.

Mandy Likes The Advice

April 5, 2008

Hi Boyd,

I just signed up for your alerts and newsletter.  I actually read through most of the articles this morning…it’s really quite interesting, even to someone who doesn’t know what the heck any of that stuff actually is.  I liked the one about the R-22 and how scammed that guy got…and the commercial one who was only supposed to pay the difference.  I read through most of them I think.  I don’t mean that I like that they got “duped”, but that you’re pointing it out and giving people straight up answers about it.  Good Concept.  I like it…I may have to send the link to friends, especially this one that runs rental houses and builds homes.  I will suggest that they contact you before their next project.

I’m going to go buy a washer today.  Any hints or tips on that???   ; )

Thanks again,

The New Customer

April 1, 2008

Late last week I took an afternoon and went out to visit some of my old contractor acquaintances from the HVAC industry in my area.  I figure that from time to time it is good to get the contractor perspective of the heating & air conditioning industry.  They deserve a voice in this as well.

One of the subjects that I fed for response was:  How has the internet changed the way homeowners shop for HVAC?  In addition, does the information that the homeowners get from the internet help or hurt the contractor when trying to make a sale?  The responses that I got were varied, but there was a common assessment that rang through.
